PeepingMoon Exclusive: I took my family to watch Laila Majnu on 3rd day of release, theatre authorities were pulling the poster of my film already- Avinash Tiwary

Avinash Tiwary made his Bollywood debut in Tu Hai Mera Sunday (2017). Just a year later, he starred in the modern-day retelling of Laila Majnu with Tripti Dimri. Though the film didn't get enough commercial success, the actors, especially Avinash received rave reviews for his performance as Qais or Majnu. While the actor has some interesting projects on the cards now, the journey to recognition wasn't easy. In PeepingMoom.com's segment, Let's Talk, Avinash revealed that Laila Majnu was pulled down from a theatre in just 3 days.

"Laila Majnu released on Friday. I took my family and friends to a nearby theatre on Sunday. They were pulling the poster of my film already. That is not a sight I ever want to see in my life. Once the film came on OTT, it kept going. It wasn't that after watching Laila Majnu everyone wanted to work with me. It again came down to me going and testing for films and auditioning. What Laila Majnu did to me was those people who had seen it and wanted to work with me saw that there is potential in this guy to hold the film on his own. That was very important and a big achievement after Laila Majnu," Avinash told.

He added, "People thought I can carry a film on my shoulder as an actor and not as a star, which is a long journey. I went on to test for Bulbbul and The Girl On The Train. The only person who didn't test me was Karan Johar. Ab jaake thoda kaam aa raha hai which is coming only for you and for the credibility you've earned as an actor over the years."

Talking about getting recognition and creating the buzz with the help of OTT projects, Avinash shared, "I've seen people sitting right next to me while I'm doing Dongri To Dubai, who have seen Bulbbul and not recognise that I was in it. Earlier, that would bother me but now I've started taking it as a compliment that I look extremely different in every part I do. I'm able to create a certain variety that I keep boasting about as my versatility."
