SS Rajamouli's historical blockbuster movie series Bahubali introduced a Pan-India concept to Indian filmmakers and moviegoers. Ever since then dozens of such big-budget, multi-lingual films have been announced that feature actors from across the film industries of India. While the South filmmakers have been ahead in churning out Pan-India movies on regular basis, it’s the Hindi filmmakers who are leading the Pan-India trend on the OTT platforms, successfully bringing in top South actors in Hindi web shows. Creators duo Raj & DK made a truly Pan-India web series with The Family Man second season, and they're continuing to breach the language barrier with their next Amazon Prime series that stars Shahid Kapoor alongside South superstar Vijay Sethupathi.
Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey is also making a Pan-India web series. Sources have informed us that his next Netflix series starring Manoj Bajpayee in lead will have an ensemble cast from both the North and South film industry. One of the leading names headlining the show will be veteran actor Nassar who has come on board to play a pivotal role that truly justifies his stature. This show will mark Nassar's debut in the web series space and will be his second OTT project after Nawazuddin Siddiqui's critically acclaimed Netflix film, Serious Men (2020).
Manoj Bajpayee and Abhishek Chaubey
"Abhishek Chaubey's Netflix series is set in South India and hence will have many actors from the regional film industry playing important roles. Besides Nassar, the show will have a few more well-known South actors whose identity will be revealed at the right time. Chaubey has got on board a Pan-India cast and crew in a true sense. A black comedy thriller series, the show has been written by Chaubey along with Unaiza Merchant, Anant Tripathi, and Harshad Nalawade. The pre-production has already begun and it will go on floors by this month-end," a source close to the project informed us.
Nassar
This Abhishek Chaubey - Manoj Bajpayee series marks their hat-trick of collaboration after the 2019 dacoit drama Sonchiriya and the recently released Ray anthology that saw the National Award-winning actor playing the role of a popular ghazal singer. Chaubey is also assigned to direct an anticipated biopic on legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand which is likely to get off the ground early next year with an A-list young star expected to star in the lead. Manoj Bajpayee, meanwhile, was recently seen in Zee5's thriller drama Dial 100, and has Kanu Behl's Despatch and Raam Reddy's Pahadon Mein lined up next.
