Disney+Hotstar's Indian adaptation of the British mini-series The Night Manager has been in development for a year now. The spy drama series was earlier supposed to be a larger-than-life OTT debut of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan who was reportedly being paid an astronomical sum in the vicinity of 75 cores. However, the project was indefinitely put on hold after Roshan walked out of it two months before it was supposed to get into production. He was apparently not comfortable with the long schedules and hence decided to excuse himself leaving the show hanging in the air.
Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that The Night Manager Indian adaptation is back on track and will happen with a fresh cast. Industry sources have informed us that Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor have been locked in to headline this ambitious Disney+Hotstar series backed by Preity Zinta in association with Banijay Asia. Aditya who's making his OTT debut with this show will step into the shoes of Tom Hiddleston and play the role of a luxury hotel night manager and former Indian soldier while Anil will reprise the role of an arms dealer masquerading as a business magnate, essayed by Huge Laurie in the original 2016 BBC One series. This espionage thriller will see Aditya and Anil Kapoor pitted against each other as the story follows the former who's recruited by a government agent agency infiltrating the inner circles of Anil Kapoor's empire of illegal arms sales.
Sandeep Modi who co-directed Ram Madhvani's Emmay Awards nominated Aarya has been brought on board to direct this six-part Indian adaptation that deals with a soldier-turned-hotelier-
The Night Manager marks Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor's second collaboration after their last year's Mohit Suri thriller, Malang. It also marks Anil's foray into the web series space after featuring in two Netflix films — Vikramaditya Motwane's AK Vs AK, and the forthcoming thriller Thar that sees him alongside his son Harshvardhan Kapoor and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Meanwhile, Aditya will soon resume the last schedule of Ahmed Khan's action drama Om: The Battle Within. He will then shoot for Thadam remake with Mrunal Thakur and only after completing it will head to his debut web series.
