Filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh has finally kicked off his third directorial three years after his Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer social drama Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Peepingmoon.com has learned that Singh is next directing a heart-warming family drama series, titled Homecoming. Produced by Karan Raj Kohli and Viraj Kapur under their Manor Rama Pictures banner, the show went on floors last Thursday in Bhopal and will premiere on the streaming platform Zee5 early next year.
Homecoming is said to be a soul-stirring tale of a family which reunites around Diwali time. Shiv Panditt who was recently seen in Sidharth Malhotra's career-defining movie Shershaah, Lipstick Under My Burkha fame Plabita Borthakur, and Paatal Lok actress Niharika Dutt are playing the lead roles in the show that also stars Vivaan Shah (Happy New Year), Ayesha Raza (Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl), and Suneel Sinha (Pad Man) in pivotal roles. Writers Sudeep Nigam and Abhishek Chatterjee who penned Amit Sadh's SonyLIV show Avrodh: The Siege Within have written this series.
Shree Narayan Singh has been trying to put together many projects since 2018 but they all were either shelved or postponed indefinitely. He was supposed to direct a Netflix film starring Sonakshi Sinha this year, however, that has now been delayed due to Sinha's date issues. He was also working on the remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar's 1982 action-crime drama Shakti but there's been no update on that front either. Meanwhile, the director has also announced a new film for Vinod Bhanushali's banner and we heard it's the biopic of Sher Singh Rana — a Rajput who brought back the remains of one of India's greatest rulers Prithviraj Chauhan from Afghanistan. The film is currently in the scripting stage and will go on floors sometime next year.
