PeepingMoon Exclusive: National multiplex chains offer discriminatory revenue-sharing terms to Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi

Rohit Shetty fulfilled his promise by releasing his cop-drama Sooryavanshi in theatres after waiting for almost two years. Being the first major release post-pandemic, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif's Sooryavanshi is only asking for revenue share with the three national multiplex players similar to Rajinikanth's Annaatthe which is 57.5% for the first week

However, National multiplex chains have offered extremely discriminatory revenue-sharing terms at regular terms which is 52.5% to Sooryavanshi, exactly 5% lesser than what's offered to Annaatthe. This comes across as sheer discrimination by national multiplexes against a major Hindi film for national audiences over South films.

Even multiplex owners are aware that Rohit had a major contribution to the reopening of theatres in Maharashtra. While Rohit had huge offers from several OTT platforms, the director-producer stood by theatres and held the release of Sooryavanshi for almost two years.

The only question now is of respect which filmmaker Rohit deserves. And taking into consideration his massive support for theatres, multiplexes should agree to the terms. Sooryavanshi also features Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in special appearances and releases in theatres tomorrow (November 5).
