PeepingMoon Exclusive: Being a woman, there was a lot of gender politics on-set & of course, sexual harassment comes with a territory - Kanika Dhillon

Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon, who is out there making it big on her own in the entertainment industry, recently sat down for a candid conversation in the finale of PeepingMoon's Let's Talk Season 2. The writer, who has several acclaimed films in her credit, opened up about how it is difficult for a woman to survive in the film industry.

Kanika said, "Being a woman, even as an AD, on-set there was a lot of gender politics at play. Of course, sexual harassment comes with a territory. I feel all the women in the industry, the ones who are surviving here, I think they are totally boss ladies."

She further added, "Because, at the ground level, you have to be 10-times smarter than the boys. You have to take 10-times more the bullshit, you are judged 10 times more than them and yet you are standing there, every day, getting up and going to work the next day. I have tremendous respect for all the girls working the film industry."

Kanika, who started her journey as an AD on Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone’s Om Shanti Om, soon paved her way to the top as a screenwriter. With films like Ra.One, Manmarziyaan, Guilty, Haseen Dillruba & Rashmi Rocket in her kitty, the 39-year-old defined success & how.
