PeepingMoon Exclusive: The only weapon you have against a woman who’s out there doing her job is character assassination - Kanika Dhillon

Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon, who is basking the success of back-to-back hits, recently chatted with PeepingMoon's Ankita Bhalla for the finale episode of Let's Talk Season 2. Kanika explained why it is so easy for people to judge a woman and how they have a harder time, as compared to men.

Talking about the age-old norm of assassinating a woman's character, Kanika said, "We love to penalize a woman, we have this complex of judging a woman. We love to do that. Because that gives us a comfort zone. When you judge a woman's character, it makes you very comfortable because that's what you are used to doing. Because the only weapon you have against a woman, who is out there doing her job, is character assassination. What else will you do?"

She further added, "When a woman is doing well, men and women around her will say 'aree she must be sleeping her way through'. Not because she is educated and hardworking, I am a workaholic, I work for 20 hours a day. I am here because I work 20 hours a day. I work very very hard. How long will you deny a woman her talent and her hard work? We won't let you."

Kanika, who started her journey as an AD on Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone’s Om Shanti Om, soon paved her way to the top as a screenwriter. With films like Ra.One, Manmarziyaan, Guilty, Haseen Dillruba & Rashmi Rocket in her kitty, the 39-year-old defined success & how.
