In the latest development, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Ranveer Singh's highly anticipated Anniyan remake with Robot director S. Shankar has been delayed. The psychological action thriller that was announced on the occasion of Baisakhi this April was earlier supposed to go on floors in March 2022. However, Shankar's priorities are now changed and his Ranveer Singh film will now get off the ground only by the next year-end.
"Earlier Shankar was supposed to finish his multilingual film with Ram Charan by the end of this year and then head straight to the Anniyan remake with Ranveer Singh from March-April 2022. However, that's not going to happen now as Shankar has got one more project to finish before he moves to a new film. The filmmaker will resume his long-delayed Kamal Haaaan film, Indian 2 after completing the current schedule of his Ram Charan action-packed entertainer, #RC15," a source close to the development told us.
Shankar's Indian 2 has been hanging in the balance for the last two years. Its shooting was abruptly halted in February 2020 post an on-set accident that resulted in the death of some crew members. The production has not resumed since then owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, budget overrun, and legal disputes due to other commitments of the cast and crew. However, one now hears Shankar and the producer Lyca Productions have cleared their issues and have mutually decided to go ahead with the film.
"As per the new agreement, Shankar will have to finish and release Indian 2 by Diwali 2022. The makers have informed the cast and crew to keep themselves available as they resume shooting from mid-December. Shankar will now first finish the remaining 100-days shooting and post-production of Indian 2 and then only get back to his Ram Charan political drama. This will delay RC15 as well as his film with Ranveer Singh," the source clarified.
