Kabir Khan's 83, which can possibly qualify to be the best sports biopic made in India, had a bunch of talented actors from different corners of the country. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, who played Kapil Dev, the film also starred Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R. Badree as Kapil's Devils whereas Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi and Boman Irani also played pivot roles.
In PeepingMoon's Best Of 2021 segment, Kabir revealed the process of casting and finalising actors to play the real-life champions. During the interview, the director shared that he auditioned 2000 actors before locking the final cast. He revealed that the actors auditioning for the film had to go through rigorous cricketing tests apart from look tests and stamina tests.
Talking to PeepingMoon, Kabir said 83 is a film blessed by the Gods of cricket. He also recalled his initial meetings with Kapil Dev and what he told him before starting the shoot of 83.
