Filmmaker Sajid Khan, who’s been staying away from the limelight after multiple sexual misconduct allegations against him emerged in the wake of the #MeToo movement in India, is returning to films. The Housefull director is starting afresh after three years of suspension by the Indian Film and Television Association (IFTDA) and will return to sets eight years after his last directorial, Humshakals. As we already know, Sajid has already locked his comeback project and has signed his Housefull 2 co-stars John Abraham and Riteish Deshmukh to play the lead roles. Now, we heard Sajid has also finalized the leading ladies for his yet-untitled action-comedy, produced by Amar Butala of Guilty By Association banner.
Peepingmoon.com has learned that Sajid Khan has roped in Nora Fatehi and Mouni Roy to play the female leads in his comeback directorial. While Nora will be paired opposite John, Mouni will romance Riteish in this London-based comic caper. Nora who’s been a lucky charm for John with her item numbers in Rocky Handsome, and Satyameva Jayate 1 and 2 will finally be seen romancing the action star in a full-fledged role. Mouni, meanwhile, has previously worked with John in Romeo Akbar Walter (2019) and will mark her first association with Riteish Deshmukh and Sajid Khan.
Believed to be a typical, mainstream masala comedy laced with actions, the Sajid Khan film is scheduled to go on floors in August this year. It’ll be shot across India and London over 55 days and will release in theatres in the first half of 2023. John will get into the comic zone after finishing his recently announced Tehran which goes into production in April. Before starting the true-events-based Dinesh Vijan production, John will complete the final schedule of Sidharth Anand’s most-awaited Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, starting next month in Spain.
Meanwhile, John Abraham is gearing up for his next theatrical release, Attack, on April 1st. The adrenaline-pumping action entertainer sees the actor playing a lean mean killing machine who has lost everything he holds dear to him as he puts his life on the line for the greater good and to serve his nation. Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj, and Ratna Pathak Shah play pivotal roles in this Lakshya Raj Anand action-thriller. John also has Mohit Suri’s violent love story, Ek Villain Returns, with Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria up for release on July 8 in cinemas.
