Women’s Day Special ExtraordiNARI: Dad, brother to Karan Kundrra, men in my life have always pushed me to achieve my goals; they never held me back- Tejasswi Prakash

March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day across the globe. It is an annual celebration of all the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. Shedding light on women's rights and gender equality, the day holds great importance in society.

Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, PeepingMoon spoke to Tejasswi Prakash. Currently seen as Pratha, a fierce Naagin in Ekta Kapoor's supernatural show, the actress is a strong-headed individual who impressed her fans and Bigg Boss 15 audience with her stint on the reality show. Hailed as the new Boss Woman after winning Bigg Boss 15, Tejasswi is conquering new heights. Talking to PeepingMoon, the actress sent out a message to all her beautiful female fans.

Excerpts from the interview:

What is it like to be a woman?

Being a woman feels empowering. As a woman, there are a ton of responsibilities on you, physically and emotionally as well. From working at home to keeping the family united, looking after everyone and their needs, keeping everyone's mental health in check, a woman is entrusted with everything. It is a huge deal and every woman is proud of playing that role and fulfilling those responsibilities. It is an honour and prestige to be a woman. We are strong and a force to reckon with.

Despite being in a democratic country, do you find it hard to express your views on social media?

Yes. Social media is as much of a bane as it is a boon. One must navigate correctly as to what and how they express their opinions on social media. I personally speak my mind and don't hold back but I make sure to not hurt anybody's sentiments in the process. I have the right to voice my views on social media and I do so fearlessly.

Women are often criticized for the lengths of their necklines and hemlines..

Kuch toh log kahenge.... logon ka kaam hai kehna! People will always talk. It is up to us to decide whether we want to pay heed to them or not.

Men do not admire and support strong women- myth or fact?

I have always had really strong men in my life who have always pushed me to achieve my goals. From my father to Praa (brother Pratik Wayangankar) to Karan (Kundrra; boyfriend), they have not once held me back from either speaking my mind or doing what I want. They've been the guiding light in my life along with my mother, and I am thankful for having them all in my life.

What’s that one message you would like to give to all those female fans who look up to you for inspiration?

Your dreams are yours and yours alone. NOBODY... and I mean NOBODY can put you in shackles. Just work hard, do not be deterred when the world pulls you down. Because once you taste that sweet dream of yours turn into reality, you'll never want to quit.
