After the humongous success of Aashram Season 1 & Aashram: Chapter 2, the makers are back with its third part. Directed by Prakash Jha, Aashram 3 will stream on MX Player from June 3. The show is headlined by Bobby Deol and also stars actors like Chandan Roy Sanyal, Darshan Kumaar, Esha Gupta and many others.
Ahead of Aashram 3's release, PeepingMoon spoke to Chandan, who plays the role of Bhopa. Talking to us, the actor opened up about the show's popularity, sets being vandalised and why the ugly situation could have been avoided.
Excerpts from the interview:
Did you expect the Aashram franchise would break records when you were offered the show?
Actually, no. When we started, my only lalach was to work with Prakash Jha and Bobby Deol. Results are not in your hand, especially when you are an actor. Now that the show has done well, there is an extra responsibility.
How was it working with Bobby Deol?
I remember watching his films while preparing for my board exams. That was the Bobby Deol I knew so there was a craving of working with him. He is very cooperative, has no insecurities, and is very humble. Since there was respect from both ends, the equation that I share with him on-screen feels so natural.
Why do you feel Aashram is a relevant show?
Aashram is a relevant show because such things exist in society. We are not just talking about Godmen but conmen too and it is educating a lot of people.
Sets of Aashram 3 were vandalised & people were attacked…
When the sets were vandalised, I was there. People were chasing us. Things took an ugly turn and we really don’t wish to see that side. After that incident, the police came and it became chaotic. I feel it could have been avoided. If you watch the show, it is not about Godmen, but hooliganism, conmen etc. If millions of people are watching the show, there must be something good about it. Before watching the show, nobody can judge us. After watching the show, they can make up their mind.
