Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar has directed five films in the last 11 years, two of which have been multilingual. His 2013 action film David was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Tamil and featured a slightly different cast in both versions, while his experimental anthology film Solo was a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual that consisted of four independent stories, all of which starred Dulquer Salmaan as the protagonist. Five years later, Nambiar is again exploring the multi-language film genre. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that the filmmaker who’s known for making off-beat movies like Shaitan, Wazir, and Taish is next directing a Hindi-Tamil bilingual film, titled Dange.
"Bejoy Nambiar is next working on an action-heavy youth drama, and he is making it in two languages, Hindi and Tamil. Both versions will be shot simultaneously with different sets of casts. The film has already gone on floors in Pondicherry, and the director is filming it as two independent features with the same intriguing storyline and scenes, " an industry source told us, adding that the film will be shot on a start-to-finish schedule and is expected to be wrapped by September-end to hit theatres in the first quarter of next year.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Dange is said to be a two-hero human-centric drama set in a college that tackles serious issues. Sanam Teri Kasam and Taish actor Harshvardhan Rane, and 99 Songs fame Ehan Bhat have been signed in to play the lead roles in the Hindi version while Arjun Das (Kaithi, Master) and Kalidas Jayaram (Mr & Mrs Rowdy, Poomaram, Vikram) star in the Tamil edition. TJ Bhanu, who has previously featured in Kabir Khan’s Amazon Prime series, The Forgotten Army, Ankahi Kahaniya, and the Tamil film, Vaazhl, will play the leading lady in both versions. The principal cast aside, both films will feature more or less the same actors in supporting parts.
Bejoy Nambiar has established himself as an edgy storyteller over the years with films such as Shaitan, David, Wazir, and Solo in his filmography. His last feature directorial, Taish—an ensemble revenge saga starring Harshvardhan Rane, Jim Sarbh, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, and Sanjeeda Sheikh—was released as a film as well as a six-part series on Zee5 in 2020 and received critical acclaim for its tight, gripping screenplay.
