PeepingMoon Exclusive: Huma Qureshi to produce and star in Single Salma, co-starring Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Singh

In January this year, Huma Qureshi announced her foray into production with a slice-of-life drama, titled Double XL. The film stars Huma and Sonakshi Sinha in the roles of two overweight girls who fight societal discrimination against women who look heavy on the scales. Cut to seven months later, the Badlapur actress is all geared up to kick-off her second production venture even before the Satramm Ramani directorial releases later this year on an OTT platform.

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Huma Qureshi will produce and star in a drama-comedy titled Single Salma. The film is a quirky tale about relationships and sees Huma playing the central role of a small-town unmarried girl. Shreyas Talpade, who was recently applauded for his performance in the biographical sports drama, Kaun Pravin Tambe?, and Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety actor Sunny Singh have been roped in to play the male leads in this film. Nachiket Samant is directing it and he has already started pre-production to begin shooting this month in London.

Single Salma is the latest addition to Huma Qureshi’s strong lineup of content-driven films that solely revolve around her character. Having proved her mettle with stellar performances in films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Dedh Ishqiya, and Badlapur, the actress will soon be seen in the second season of SonyLIV’s Maharani, scheduled to premiere on August 25. Huma returns as Bihar’s chief minister, Rani Bharti, to tackle goons who are harming the state in the name of politics, caste and other issues in this Subhash Kapoor-created political drama series. The actress will then be seen playing famed Indian food writer Tarla Dalal in Dangal writer Piyush Gupta’s directorial debut, backed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ronnie Screwvala. She is also headlining Navjot Gulati’s recently announced intense drama, Pooja Meri Jaan, and Vasan Bala’s Netflix film, Monica O My Darling.
