Arjun Rampal has lately been trying to expand his repertoire as an actor. Known mostly for his thriller movies, the Rock On star is now testing his hands in multiple other genres, and his forthcoming movie slate is a testament to that fact. His film with Aparna Sen, The Rapist, is a hard-hitting social drama that spotlights the deep-rooted misogynistic, patriarchal, and sadistic attitudes in the milieu of a rapist, while The Battle of Bhima Koregaon is a period war drama starring Rampal as a Malyhar warrior. Abbas-Mustan’s Penthouse and Three Monkeys are thrillers, while Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which marks Rampal’s South Indian movie debut, is a big-ticket mainstream Telugu actioner. The Om Shanti Om actor is also doing a drama flick and a biographical film, and now we hear he has added a comedy film to his lineup as well.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Arjun Rampal has now signed a comic caper, titled Project Love. The film is said to be a farcical comedy about a brother who makes a full-proof plan and gets his sister kidnapped to save her from her opportunist boyfriend. Rampal will play the role of the brother, while Salman Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth actress Mahima Makwana will essay the part of his sister. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 actor Omkar Kapoor has been brought on board to play the role of a guy Rampal chooses for the kidnapping of his sister. Rampal’s girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades, Gopal Datt, and Mukul Chadda also star in pivotal roles in this film, directed by Kabir Khan’s former associate, Baljeet Singh Marwah.

Vicky Bahri and Salil Chaturvedi of Reimagine Entertainment are producing this film in association with Zee Studios. Bahri has previously co-produced films such as Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Break Ke Baad, and Teri Meri Kahaani, among others, and has been working with Baweja Studios for the past few years before leaving the company early this year. Project Love will mark his first project under his and Salil Chaturvedi’s newly launched banner, Reimagine Entertainment. The film went on floors in London just yesterday, and is expected to be wrapped up in the next two months.
Meanwhile, Arjun Rampal has been bombarded with appraisals for his intense performance in Aparna Sen’s The Rapist. The film has received standing ovations at multiple film festivals and will be released in India next year on a streaming platform. Apart from the already mentioned films, Rampal is also doing an action-thriller with Vidyut Jammwal, to be directed by Commando 3 fame Aditya Dhar. He also stars alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Raat Akeli Hai director Honey Trehan’s next yet-untitled human drama, produced by Abhishek Chaubey and Ronnie Screwvala.
