Chandan, Chanchal and Chitvan are returning to take you on an unforgettable trip in the third season of TVF's popular show Tripling. Headlined by Sumeet Vyas, Maanvi Gagroo and Amol Parashar, the show will stream from October 21 on ZEE5.
Ahead of Tripling 3's much-awaited premiere, PeepingMoon.com spoke to Amol and Maanvi about the show standing the test of time considering it was among the first few web shows to release in India. The actors further reacted to whether the second season of Tripling was more metaphorical than the first.
Excerpts from the interview:
Tripling was among the first few web shows to release in India. Does it feel satisfying that the show stood the test of time and is still popular?
Amol: More than satisfying, it is rewarding. I feel excited and grateful. We didn’t predict this. If someone would have asked this in 2016, what would happen 6 years later, then we wouldn’t have been able to predict exactly. It was something we did with our hearts and were trying to tell a great story. We are glad that it worked.
Maanvi: Yes, Tripling was certainly popular back then and is even now. It feels happy that the show stood the test of time and now, with bigger names joining in, it is great to be still relevant.
Amol, will Tripling once again come across as a clutter-breaking offering?
Amol: I hope it does. I understand that if you purposely try to become a clutter-breaker, you end up becoming a clutter. You try and tell a story according to your conviction, stick by it and don’t try to change it just because other people are saying so. This helps you achieve the tag of clutter-breaker. People’s opinions come from a place of formula or thinking that one knows works well or doesn't. It is mostly the honesty in the story, performance and writing that breaks the clutter.
As the 3rd season of Tripling is around the corner, do you take a walk down memory lane to the time you were first offered the show?
Amol: Tripling was a turning point in my professional life. Though unconventional, I was on board when the show was being written. Tripling was more about doing something together. I wanted to work with Sumeet and TVF and vice-versa. So, they started writing a show marking my collaboration with TVF.
Maanvi: I often think about the first time I was offered the show and how I landed the role of Chanchal. I was travelling with Arunabh (Kumar, producer) from a TVF live show and on the flight, I was told about Tripling in just a line. I knew that Sumeet (Vyas) and Amol were playing the two brothers. I asked Arunabh whether they had locked anyone for the sister’s role. I said I would love to play that part. Thank God for that flight.
The second season of Tripling seemed to be more metaphorical than the first...
Amol: While acting, it never felt so because we were doing what was written for us. We performed to the best of our abilities and even had fun off the cameras. I don’t think the experience of doing the season was any different. It was a pleasant comeback.
Maanvi: For us, it wasn’t metaphorical as the writers and director made it with something in their minds. Like we say when we reunite for Tripling, it was just like coming back home.
What are your expectations from the third season?
Amol: I hope the hard work we have put in and the candour that we have maintained still connects with the audience. I hope they are able to travel with us, emotionally too.
Maanvi: I am expecting season 3 to be received with equal love and warmth as the previous seasons. I believe it is a wholesome season. It is more like a coming-of-age season. This time, the parents are coming to the forefront; that should be enjoyable to watch. We will also get to see why the family is dysfunctional despite the warmth.
Maanvi, Tripling 3 & 4 More Shots Please 3 are releasing on the same day. Nervous?
I couldn’t be more excited. Right now, I don’t feel nervous. Maybe when I sit down to read the reviews and social media comments, I may feel the jitters. Moreso, I haven’t had the time to sit down and process this because of the promotions. They’re big shows, once I sit down for a moment, I may feel nervous and excited. I am glad that the audience will get to see me in two different and equally loved roles.
