Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is a true pan-Indian vehicle, featuring an ensemble cast from the Hindi as well as the South Indian film industries. The Atlee Kumar-directed masala entertainer stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles, while Deepika Padukone makes a cameo appearance as SRK’s wife. And now, we have heard about a new cast member joining the Jawan gang.
Peepingmoon.com has learned that Ridhi Dogra, who is known for her television shows such as Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak, and Savitri, among others, has joined the cast of Jawan. She will play an important role, the details of which have been kept under wraps to maintain the suspense around the plot. She is said to be playing a small but significant part and has already finished her portion. "Ridhi Dogra shot for Jawan during the Mumbai and Chennai schedules. She is a talented artist and has done commendable work in this film. Ridhi is a huge SRK fan, and working in Jawan has been a ‘dream come true’ moment for her. She had a blast shooting for this film and cannot wait for the world to see it," a source close to the team told us.
Ridhi has lately been trying to explore other mediums of cinema after acting in television for the past 11 years and has so far featured in two web series: Asur and The Married Woman. Although she makes her feature film debut next year with Anshuman Jha’s Lakadbaggha, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan will give her her first major exposure to the big screen. Her addition to Jawan has come to light soon after her casting in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 surfaced in the media. "Ridhi Dogra is going to have a dream introduction to Bollywood fans. Jawan and Tiger 3 are among the most anticipated movies of next year, and she is in both movies, making 2023 a career-defining year for her. Ridhi’s film debut is long overdue, and finally she is starting it with a bang," the source further said.
Jawan went on the floor in September 2021 and since then has been shot over Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai in multiple schedules. As we report this new development, the Red Chillies Entertainment production is already being shot in Mumbai. The current schedule began on October 18 and is expected to go on until the third week of November. SRK will then take a short break and head overseas at the end of this month for the next stint of Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. The superstar is juggling well between Jawan and Dunki and is expected to wrap the former by January 2022 and the latter by April 2022.
