PeepingMoon Exclusive: Sonu Sood to romance Jacqueline Fernandez in Fateh; shooting begins in January 2023

Over a year after the announcement, Sonu Sood's action-thriller Fateh is finally set to roll in January 2023. The project, which has gone through several rewrites in the past year, is now back on track and progressing smoothly with a 2023 production plan. The cast and crew are finalized, the recce has been completed, and Abhinandan Gupta, who makes his directorial debut with this film, has also begun the pre-production. And now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Jacqueline Fernandez has been brought on board to play the leading lady in this gripping story, inspired by real-life incidents.

Sources close to the development have informed us that Jacqueline signed the film just last week and will be seen as the female lead opposite Sonu Sood, tackling the issue of digital scams together. The film is a thought-provoking story with high-octane action sequences at its core and will showcase Sood in a never-before-seen avatar. The Dabangg actor has written the story and screenplay himself and is also producing it in partnership with Zee Studios. He is said to have worked on the writing for one and half years and has consulted with numerous ethical hackers to ensure authenticity in the film's depiction of the subject matter. Sood has been profoundly involved in every aspect of the development and will officially begin shooting for the film in mid-January in Mumbai.

Sonu Sood, who has mostly played second leads or villains in his film career, makes his return as the lead protagonist with Fateh. The action thriller also marks his major return to the big screen after he shot to national prominence for his work in assisting migrants to return home during the COVID pandemic. Sood is expected to finish this film by April 2023 and will then head to a big Hindi film he is currently in talks for. His other announced film, Kisaan, meanwhile, is said to have been put on the backburner due to script issues. The Raaj Shaandilya production was announced in January 2021, with Shool director E. Niwas set to direct.

Jacqueline Fernandez, meanwhile, has had four releases this year. The actress started off 2022 with John Abraham’s actioner Attack, followed it with Sudeep’s Pan-India film, Vikrant Rona, and Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu, and ended the year with Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, which released in cinemas just last Friday to a lukewarm response at the box office. Sonu Sood’s Fateh is Jacqueline’s second film on her 2023 schedule, following Aditya Datt’s Crakk starring Vidyut Jammwal and Arjun Rampal.
