Peepingmoon.com exclusively revealed in November that Homi Adajania is directing a crime thriller for Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and has cast Janhvi Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. We also revealed that the film, tentatively titled Murder Mubarak, is based on Anuja Chauhan’s best-selling book, Club You to Death and has been planned to be made along the lines of the Hollywood thriller, Knives Out. However, the project has gone through ups and downs since then, with the supposed cast backing out.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Janhvi Kapoor will not be a part of Murder Mubarak anymore. The Dhadak actress has apparently walked out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. "Homi and Janhvi had discussed this project a few months ago, and Janhvi had also committed to it. However, she has recently signed a big pan-Indian film that will also go into production at the same time as Murder Mubarak. Janhvi chose the bigger project and amicably left Homi’s film, promising him to collaborate on a different project at a later time," a source close to the development told us, adding that Janhvi’s departure has caused the film to return to the casting stage, delaying production by several months.
In addition to leaving Murder Mubarak, Janhvi Kapoor has signed on for Telugu superstar Jr.NTR’s next pan-Indian film. Although she had been in talks for this film for a few months, she recently signed the contract. She has given her dates and will start shooting for it after finishing Dharma Productions’ Mr. & Mrs. Mahi with Rajkummar Rao. #NTR30 is a special project for Janhvi for two reasons. First, it marks her debut in the South Indian film industry, and she is excited to explore this territory where her late mother Sridevi is hugely celebrated. Second, she always wanted to work with Jr.NTR and this film gives her that golden opportunity.

#NTR30 is one of the most-awaited pan-India films as it marks Jr.NTR’s next project after the massive worldwide success of SS Rajamouli’s RRR. Furthermore, it reunites him with blockbuster director Koratala Siva after seven years. The two previously collaborated in the 2016 action-drama Janatha Garage, which is widely regarded as one of the actor's best films to date. Their next is believed to be a revenge drama mounted on a huge scale and will go on floors next month with an April 5, 2024, release date.
In the meantime, Homi Adajania’s Murder Mubarak has gone back to the casting process after Janhvi’s exit. Not only Janhvi, but Aditya Roy Kapur has also backed out of this film, citing date issues. The makers are now approaching different actors and have initiated talks with Arjun Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan as potential replacements. We will bring you an update once there’s clarity on the casting. Keep an eye on Peepingmoon!
