Debina Bonnerjee is currently enjoying the 'most magical phase of her life'. With two beautiful daughters by her side, the actress has her heart full of love and joy. Debina and her husband Gurmeet Choudhary welcomed their first daughter Lianna Choudhary on April 3, 2022, and the couple was blessed with another baby girl named Divisha on November 11, 2022.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Lianna and Divisha's gorgeous mommy Debina opened up about experiencing motherhood and the changes her daughters brought into her life. Calling Divisha a 'miracle baby', the actress revealed whether having an Irish twin was planned. Debina also spoke about returning to work after her maternity break.
Excerpts from the interview:
How has motherhood been treating you?! What changes has motherhood brought in you?
I would call motherhood to be a full-time job. Many changes occur from within and even around us, but trust me, it is the most magical phase in my life. My babies have all our attention and we just cannot wait to wrap our work and be with them even if they’re fast asleep.
You’ve chosen unique names for your daughters. What has been the inspiration behind them?
There was no inspiration as such. We went according to the alphabet chosen for them. All I wanted was meaningful names for my daughters. Lianna and Divisha suit them perfectly
You were blessed with Lianna after 10 years of marriage. What was the feeling like when you held her in your arms?
When I held Lianna for the first time, I felt complete! She was a wish, a prayer that was finally granted to us after 10 years of marriage.
You call Divisha a ‘miracle baby’. Why? What were the challenges you faced during your second delivery?
So, Gurmeet and I never planned a second pregnancy, Divisha bloomed within me and that’s why I call her a miracle baby. Some things just cannot be explained by felt. God surprises you when you don’t plan anything.
During my second pregnancy, I didn’t have any cravings and was pretty much active. Yes, there were certain complications but everything was fine as I followed the instructions given by my doctor.
Irish Twin is a rare concept, atleast in India. Was it a planned decision?
Definitely not, and that’s why I feel life has surprised us with Divisha.
Were you more confident during your second pregnancy?
I was super scared in my first pregnancy and kept low-key but I was more confident the second time. I decided to interact with more people, fans and take each day with blessings and faith.
You are probably the first Indian celebrity to document your entire pregnancy journey for your fans. What encouraged you to do so?
My fans on social media are my family. I read their comments, e-mails, life stories and even their problems. They look up to me for solutions and answers to make things simpler. This is what motivates me to share my journey and life with them. I find happiness in motivating my people who show faith in me. It keeps me going and encourages me to do better.
Are you planning to resume work anytime soon? Are any projects in the pipeline or you have taken a break to spend time with the princesses till they grow slightly older?
To be honest, work keep me active. Be it mummy duties, household chores or even acting, I like to be active. Social media has been me on my toes throughout as I have been doing brand shoots almost everyday.
Gradually, as the babies are growing up, I am steadily preparing myself and my body to resume proper shooting. As and when good stuff reaches my doorstep, I’ll give it a thought.
Over these months, has Lianna shown any signs of being a protective big sister, or is she still getting used to the new member of the family?
Lianna is definitely a big sister but she’s also my tiny mini moo who is getting accustomed to a lot of new changes around her. She’s already giving us those gorgeous big sister and elder daughter vibes.
Lianna and Divisha need parental attention at the moment as they are too little themselves. Is it difficult to manage your day to give both equal time?
I wouldn’t call it difficult but it is manageable. If Gurmeet and I aren’t around, my mother takes care of Lianna and Divisha. Most of the time we are there for them. It’s been great teamwork at home and the entire family loves our babies. Everyone is there for everybody, that’s how the atmosphere at home feels like and I love it.
Being a mother, are you comfortable with the paparazzi culture in India? Be it the harsh flashlights or constant frenzy on social media, does it bother you?
It certainly doesn’t bother me because paps are also doing their job. When we request them to not click pictures or to not go harsh with the lights and flashes, they do oblige and respect your choice. I have no issues with that.
