PeepingMoon Exclusive: The Family Man actor, Ashmith Kunder's shocking transformation, for Goutam Ghose's Indo-Italian film Parikrama

Editor-turned-producer-turned-actor Ashmith Kunder burst into the limelight with his impactful cameo as the terrorist Bilal in Manoj Bajpayee’s web series The Family Man. The actor received a lot of acclaim for his all guns blazing avatar in the show. Now, he is all set to scorch the screens once again in veteran actor-director Goutam Ghose’s Indo-Italian film Parikrama.

In an exclusive conversation with PeepingMoon, Ashmith spilled the beans about his upcoming film and his shocking transformation. Talking about the film, Ashmith said, “The film, Parikrama is based on the Italian book The Story of Lala written by Sergio Scapagnini. Lala is a small 10-year-old boy and this is entirely his story. I play his father in the film. I am playing a very different character in Parikrama than what I played in The Family Man. The role was more of psychological transformation for me than a physical one and I had to take extensive training to nail the dialect of a villager in the film. The film has been shot extensively in Italy’s Naples and Procida. It has also been shot in Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh.”

When asked about his experience of working with Goutam Ghose he said, “I would describe my experience of working with Goutam Ghosh as ‘surreal’. I never imagined in my life that I would be working with somebody of his caliber so early in my career, a man who has worked with industry stalwarts. For him to work with me and take only my shot and tell me that he is happy with my performance and say ‘Excellent, very good,’ was something unimaginable for me.”

Parikrama also stars Italian actor Marco Leonardi and Chitrangda Singh. Goutam Ghose is a veteran film director, Actor, music director and cinematographer, who works primarily in Bengali cinema. He is the only Indian to have received the ‘Vittorio Di Sica’ Award, Italy, in 1997. The film would be screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Meanwhile on the work front, Ashmith will be seen in Raj & DK’s web show Guns & Gulaabs that will stream on Netflix soon. The show stars Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, Gulshan Devaiah and TJ Bhanu in lead roles. Besides this, Ashmith is also in talks to star in Kannada shows and films and an announcement will be soon made.
