Shah Rukh Khan is the man of the moment. The global Bollywood superstar has returned to theatres over four years later with Pathaan, and the world is wholeheartedly welcoming him with open arms. The action spectacle, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has earned a whopping 57 crore nett in India and over 36 crore overseas on the first day, breaking all existing Indian films' records on the opening day. The Siddharth Anand-directed spy thriller has created havoc at the ticket windows and brought audiences back to theatres in a record number, thereby reviving the business of the Hindi film industry, which has been struggling for breath since last year. SRK is relieved with Pathaan's response and opening and is all set to get back to work now.
Peepingmoon.com has learned that Shah Rukh Khan will return to the sets next week for Jawan. King Khan will resume shooting for Atlee’s masala potboiler on February 1 in Mumbai, ending his one-month break for Pathaan’s release. The new schedule is six days long and will see SRK perform some heavy action sequences. Sanya Malhotra, who plays one of the pivotal roles in this ensemble action drama, will also join him in this short stint. Atlee and his team have started preparation for a new schedule and will kick off the new schedule on January 31st. Shah Rukh will join them after a day, while Vijay Sethupathi and Priyamani are expected to shoot their remaining sequences in the next schedule later in February.
Jawan is believed to have been 80% completed so far, with the rest planned to be wrapped up by March 2023. Multiple small shooting chunks have been planned in various cities to finish off the principal production over the next two months. Atlee and his team are simultaneously working on the post-production of the film to prepare it for its targeted June 2, 2023 release. The film, as we know, is a hugely-mounted commercial action entertainer with a universal story that goes beyond language and geography. It's a true pan-India film with a strong cast that includes actors from both the Hindi and South film industries, including Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Priyamani, Yogi Babu, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, and Ridhi Dogra.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is gearing up for a HISTORIC day two after the humongous, record-breaking opening yesterday. The film is running insanely well in cinemas and has great advance bookings for the night shows as well. Early estimates suggest that the YRF production might accumulate between 60-64 crore nett today, becoming the biggest single-day grosser in India. The film is on the verge of crossing 115 crore in just two days, emerging as the first Hindi film to cross the 100 crore mark in just two days. Go watch Pathaan in theatres if you haven’t yet.
