PeepingMoon Exclusive: Akshay Kumar seeks international driving licence at Andheri RTO in Mumbai ahead of driving sequences shoot for 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' in Scotland

In a scene almost out of his potential comedy-drama blockbuster Selfiee that releases today, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar found himself at the RTO in Mumbai’s north-western suburb Andheri yesterday seeking an international driving licence even as special screenings of the Malayalam remake based on a driving licence were being held for the media!

In Karan Johar’s Selfiee, Akshay almost plays himself. A Bollywood superstar and darling of the masses who urgently needs a driving licence to shoot in a restricted area and gets embroiled in a battle of emotions and wits with a relentless and critical RTO officer (played by Emraan Hashmi) who wanted a selfie with his hero and was snubbed.

PeepingMoon.com exclusively learned from delighted RTO officials that Akshay showed up in person at their Andheri office yesterday afternoon to get an international driving licence for himself. The reason being almost the same as it is in Selfiee. The actor needed the international driving licence for the next leg of Ali Abbas Zaffar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan that will be shot in Scotland. The action-comedy-drama co-stars Tiger Shroff who will be leaving for Scotland today.

RTO officials said that Scotland authorities would not let the actor shoot any driving sequences himself for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan unless he possessed a genuine and valid international driving licence. Which is what Akshay went to get yesterday. They added that he would get the licence in two days. Interestingly, in his last film shot in Scotland, Ranjit Tewari’s hijack drama Bell Bottom of 2021, Akshay had no driving scenes.

The RTO officials further remembered that Akshay had last visited their Andheri office some seven or eight years ago for his Indian driving licence. He already possessed one, but when the old booklet licence was changed to the new smart card version, the actor duly reported to the RTO to complete the formalities. “He even gave the exam,” they said. “We conducted it for him verbally.” And when Akshay asked if they wanted him to do the driving test as well, the RTO officials laughed and said, “No, we’ve seen you driving enough on screen already!”
