PeepingMoon Exclusive: ‘It was a dream come true for me,’ says director Ashima Chibber on having Rani Mukerji for the lead role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway

Inspired by a true story, Mrs. Chatterjee VS Norway is being lauded as one of the best performances of Rani Mukerji. The story talks about an immigrant mother that fights an entire nation to gain back the custody of her kids that were taken away from her on the grounds of various cultural differences. Director Ashima Chibber in an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com talks about how Rani Mukerji was her only choice to play the lead role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

Talk about literally getting into the skin of the character is a trait that is honed by great actors that work towards bringing out the truth of someone else’s story. The conviction with which one would need to perform for the audiences to believe in the story is a seemingly arduous task that was easily undertaken by Rani Mukerji.

Director Ashima Chibber talks about how Rani was her first choice, “There was no choice. I would close my eyes and open them and feel like the film was just written for her. I believe only she could have done justice to the role. It was always a dream to work with her and I am grateful to have had this opportunity.”

Mrs. Chatterjee VS Norway talks about the life of an immigrant mother that fights against all odds to win back the custody of her children.

Produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment (Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani & Nikkhil Advani), Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is slated to release in theatres on 17th March 2023.
