So, on the occasion of Ram’s 38th birthday, PeepingMoon.com got in touch with style connoisseur, Nikita Jaisinghani, who has been majorly responsible for the actor’s fashion-forward looks. Nikita gave us a breakdown of his latest Oscars looks, the significance behind them, and how it feels to be a part of the team who brought the victory home!

Excerpts from the interview:

What was the vision behind Ram Charan's S&N look? How did you both land on that particular outfit?

We knew we wanted to do an Indian designer and an Indian silhouette and with that came challenges to keep it simple and classic yet impactful. The designer honestly made it simpler for us to lock the look with his storytelling through the sketch with which Ram fell in love.

As you mentioned in your IG post, Ram’s Oscar look had some customized details. Can you elaborate more on that?

Freedom fighters to show their power wore clothes that had valour structure and details of leather. The drape on the kurta was specifically done keeping the culture that we come from. The buttons were representing a regiment and had the insignia Bharat written on them. 4 pocket style bandgala was very much a reference to how freedom fighters wore their outfits

Did you face any challenges while curating this look? logistic or creativity-wise?

The challenge was only that when wanting to do an Indian look, you get restricted to certain styles and cuts and within that to make sure that it’s different from what we last wore at Golden Globes was slightly difficult. But once we spoke to the designer, we clearly knew what we wanted and no changes were needed going forward.

You have dressed Ram in suits for his GMA interview and other RRR-related press tours. Any specific reason for giving him ethnic wear for both Golden Globes and the Oscars?

We dressed as per the event. For interviews, we went semi-formal with silhouettes from the West but Indian Designers. We wore designers like Osman Abdul Razak who is one of the best suit makers of the country and then Country Made. Golden Globes and Oscar demands Evening Wear and we went with what Indians would wear for an event like that and ditched a Tuxedo.

How is Ram’s Oscars look different from the one at the Golden Globes?

For the Golden Globes, we wore an Indian silhouette and for the Oscars, we had storytelling in the details.

Was Ram open to experimentation with his red-carpet look at the Oscars or did he have a ‘set look’ in mind? Were you both on the same page?

He was open to experimenting but within the box of Indian designers and an Indian structure. He wasn’t keen on wearing a suit for this and we both believed in the idea to present our country in our true authentic form.

How long did you and your team plan this look for?

A month from start to end.

Representing India at the Oscars is quite an achievement in itself. In a way, it is your first Oscars too, styling-wise. How do you feel styling a look that grabbed the centre stage with the entire world watching?

The feelings were mixed. Excited at first and then the nervousness kicks in. The actors have performed and taking the centre stage, now I got to perform and do the same but with clothes.

Any plans of styling a Hollywood celebrity next? If yes, then who?

Would love to. There are many on the list but right now I see my hands full with the artist who I work with doing great work internationally, so I’ll keep calm.

From the Oscars red carpet, who would you have loved to style the most besides Ram Charan?

S.S. Rajamouli, Austin Butler & Shawn Mendes

Any message for team RRR who just bagged a big win at the prestigious award function?

A huge congratulations and thank you for all the hard work. As you succeed, we succeed.

And lastly, a birthday wish for the birthday icon..

Happy Birthday, Ram. Thank you for always believing in me.
