There's a sudden wave of films based on real-life stories in the Hindi cinema industry. Be it biopics on renowned personalities like Gangubai Kathiawadi or stories that salute the human spirit like Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway, the genre has found buyers over the last few years. Now, PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learnt that a film inspired by a true story is in the works.
A source told PeepingMoon that Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar are teaming up for the first time to headline the film based on a true story. The yet-to-be-announced film is a thriller. It is tentatively titled Bhagwat. Arshad and Jitendra have wrapped the film's shooting which majorly took place in Uttar Pradesh.
Akshay Shere is the director of the film. In the past, he worked as an assistant director on many Hindi films. Akshay served as the second unit director on Sarkar (2005) and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006). He began his career as a director with the crime-drama action film Emotional Attyachar (2010). Former actor-turned-producer Harman Baweja has come on board as the producer. He has bankrolled projects like Hansal Mehta's Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? (2002) and Jasmin Bhasin-Gippy Grewal starrer Honeymoon (2022). He acted in the successful Punjabi film Chaar Sahibzaade (2014).
Arshad, who has had a successful career with films like the Munna Bhai franchise, Golmaal franchise, Ishqiya, Jolly LLB and many others, was last seen in Bachchhan Paandey (2022) with Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon. The actor forayed into the OTT space with Asur in 2020 and Modern Love: Mumbai (2022). He is awaiting the release of the second season of Asur. In January this year, Arshad announced a film with his Munna Bhai co-star Sanjay Dutt.
Jitendra Kumar, popularly known as Jitu Bhaiya, shot to fame with TVF's acclaimed web series Permanent Roommates. He has done shows like Kota Factory to name a few. His recent web show was Panchayat 2 (2022). The actor has starred in Hindi films like Gone Kesh (2019), Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020) and Chaman Bahar (2020).
