Vipul Amrutlal Shah-produced The Kerala Story has found a place in the top 5 Hindi films of the year. Headlined by Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani, the film is directed by Sudipto Sen. While it is a box office winner, The Kerala Story continues to be surrounded by controversies and debates. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan called it a 'propaganda film'.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah reacted to Kamal Haasan's statement. He told us, "Kamal Haasan sir is a senior actor and has had a great career. He's my senior. It will be disrespectful of me to react to his statement or comment on it in this way. I would request him to watch the film first and then he can call me or meet me. Let's discuss this across the table. It would be a more appropriate way of responding to what he has said. I don't have any issue with him having a problem with the film. I just want him to watch it first and then give his opinion."
In an interview, Mr Haasan spoke about the controversies The Kerala Story is facing. He said, "I told you, I am against propaganda films. It is not enough if you write 'true story' at the bottom as the logo. It has to be really true. And that is not true."
The Kerala Story is still running successfully in theatres. It released on May 5.
