PeepingMoon Exclusive: 'Was told I don't look 'bechara' enough, they felt my face isn't soft,' says Ridhi Dogra on her initial days in television

Ridhi Dogra is riding high on the critical acclaim of her recently released web series, Asur 2. She plays the role of Nusrat Saeed. Just like her real self, Ridhi's Nusrat is a strong and independent woman who has her own voice and individuality. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Ridhi reacted to whether she consciously chooses strong roles or whether they land at her doorstep naturally.

The actress told, "It is a combination. It is something I set out to do. I have done television. While I did great shows, I was told in my initial days that my face doesn't look 'bechara' enough. I was told you don't like a damsel in distress and don't fit into the bracket of a television 'heroine'. They felt I don't have a soft face. Instead of sitting and crying, I took it in my stride and decided to do only strong characters."

She further added, "I did a show called Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak? and I liked doing it because the character talked sense. I knew I was reaching out to women across age groups so I was happy to put out a character like that. I do believe I have a soft face because in The Married Woman, I did come across as vulnerable. I need layers in my characters. It is not possible for me to say yes to roles just to look pretty."

Ridhi is now gearing up to play important roles in Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Salman Khan's Tiger 3.
