"There's cinema pre-Satya and post-Satya," declared Manoj Bajpayee in an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon as the film completed 25 years since its theatrical release on July 3, 1998. Talking to us, the National Award-winning actor revealed how people started recognising and valuing his craft after the success of the Ram Gopal Varma-directed gangster drama. 

In the interview, he said, "People didn't even know me. Most housewives were watching Swabhimaan but I didn't have the experience of being on screen in that strong capacity. It was like a new boy came and suddenly everyone was bowled over by what was happening on screen. I was a nobody who made a place in their hearts. But Satya has completely changed Indian cinema. There's cinema pre-Satya and post-Satya. This is for everyone to see how it has changed the overall working system and ethics. Look at the number of new directors and actors who came after watching Satya."

Satya also starred J. D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, Shefali Shah, Saurabh Shukla and Paresh Rawal among others. Manoj played the role of Bhiku Mhatre.
