Ram Gopal Varma's Satya changed the landscape of Indian cinema and gave courage to filmmakers to tell their stories on the big screen. It's been 25 years since the film released in theatres and one cannot forget the impact it created on the audience. On the film's anniversary, PeepingMoon.com spoke to Manoj Bajpayee, who played the pivotal role of Bhiku Mhatre. Satya was a path-breaker and when asked Manoj whether it was difficult to fit into Varma's world, he explained why actors were craving to act in something that's similar to Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino's styles of filmmaking.
Manoj told us, "It wasn't difficult to fit into his world because it was the kind of filmmaking we all believed in. We wanted to work on Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino's styles of filmmaking but we were powerless and needed someone mentally tough and powerful to lead us. Then came Ram Gopal Varma who showed so much belief and trust in us. It is only because of him and his trust that this took place and the industry changed for the better after that."
Satya also starred J. D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, Shefali Shah, Saurabh Shukla and Paresh Rawal among others.
