There seems to be speculation galore in Bollywood media these days. Despite the numerous buzzes, there is not as much movement happening in the Hindi film industry as suggested by these unconfirmed reports. We have seen many speculative stories circulating in the media recently and have fact-checked some of them based on the information obtained from various official and non-official sources.
Is Shah Rukh Khan signing a Vishal Bhardwaj film?
After delivering three back-to-back box office successes, all eyes are on what Shah Rukh Khan signs next. This is a question every film journalist is following closely, but sadly, it remains unanswered so far. Obviously, SRK is discussing various projects, but he hasn't signed any solo-lead films yet. The only film he's committed to at the moment is with his daughter Suhana Khan under Sujoy Ghosh's direction, which falls more into the criteria of “Dear Zindagi,” with SRK featuring only in an extended cameo appearance.
Sources close to the actor have clarified that SRK is not doing a Vishal Bhardwaj film, as reported by several publications. The Pathaan actor is in talks with several filmmakers like Farah Khan, Aditya Chopra (not for Dhoom 4), Raj & DK, and a renowned South filmmaker, but there's no serious discussion about a Vishal Bhardwaj movie at this point. However, SRK is apparently turning down heavy action movies to avoid being labeled as an action star and is looking for subjects that present him in a new light. His next slate of movies might just surprise all of us.
Salman Khan to romance Trisha in Bull?
Although we would love to see Trisha Krishnan paired opposite Salman Khan on-screen, the one-word answer to this question is "no." Contrary to speculations, the South Indian actress who made her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar’s 2010 comedy, Khatta Meetha, is not returning to Hindi cinema with Salman’s Bull. The leading heroine is not yet finalized, but the makers are in advanced talks with a relatively new, young actress for the role. We understand the issue of "age difference" might become a topic of discussion again if she's signed, but let's wait until then.
Bull is being directed by Shershaah fame Vishnuvardhan and features Salman in one of his most challenging roles to date. He plays paramilitary officer Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, who led Operation Cactus in 1988 in the Maldives, and is reportedly undergoing rigorous physical training to justify the role, which was once supposed to be played by Shahid Kapoor. The Karan Johar production goes on floors in February, targeting a theatrical release on Eid weekend 2025.
Janhvi Kapoor to romance Varun Dhawan in David Dhawan's film?
Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor are set to headline Shashank Khaitan's next film, as we revealed last week. Although the film is said to be the third installment of the Dulhania franchise, it's questionable if the makers will continue with this title following the backlash they received after the news broke out. What's certain, however, is that Varun and Janhvi are not doing two back-to-back movies together.
Contrary to rumours, Janhvi Kapoor is not the leading lady in David Dhawan's comedy entertainer. An official source associated with the project has clarified that Janhvi is not a part of this film, and instead, they are looking for a fresh face opposite Varun. The Ramesh Taurani production is scheduled to go on floors in April 2024 and will release in cinemas early next year.
