Nearly 20 days later, Netflix's streaming rival Amazon Prime Video gears up to announce its upcoming lineup of projects.
PeepingMoon.com exclusively learned that Amazon Prime India will unveil its 2024 content slate on March 19th at a marquee event in Mumbai. Dubbed "Prime Video Presents: The Next Chapter of the India Story," it will showcase Amazon Prime's extensive slate for this year and beyond, spanning original series, movies, and co-productions across an array of genres and languages.
While specific project details have strictly been kept under wraps at this moment, the upcoming slate promises to captivate audiences with compelling, authentic, and culturally resonant stories connecting not only with Indian viewers but also with audiences worldwide. Amazon Prime will also announce its licensing partnerships with some of India's leading production houses, further expanding its industry presence to cater to the diverse entertainment needs of Indian customers.
The anticipated slate may include Varun Dhawan-Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Citadel, Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan's debut web series, Stardom, exploring the underbelly of the Hindi film industry, and Shonali Bose's coming-of-age drama series, Notorious Girls, featuring Simran, Revathi, and Nandita Das. Nushrratt Bharuccha's supernatural thriller Chhorii 2 and Vishal Bhardwaj's next directorial venture might also be on the slate.
The lineup also encompasses previously announced shows yet to be released, such as Dharmatic Entertainment's Call Me Bae starring Ananya Pandey, Raj and DK's Gulkanda Tales featuring Pankaj Tripathi and Kunal Kemmu, and returning seasons of hit shows like Mirzapur, The Family Man, Paatal Lok, and Panchayat.
Amazon Prime India commenced 2024 with Rohit Shetty's highly anticipated action drama series, Indian Police Force, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. This was followed by Delhi Crime creator Richie Mehta's crime mini-series Poacher and Nitya Mehra's coming-of-age drama series, Big Girls Don't Cry, which began streaming just yesterday. Their next release, Ae Watan Mere Watan, featuring Sara Ali Khan, is set to premiere on March 21st.
