Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda, is not the only newcomer making his big screen debut with Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis. PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that the Dinesh Vijan production also introduces Akshay Kumar’s niece, Simar Bhatia, to showbiz. The stunning young lady will play the romantic lead opposite Agastya in this heartwarming story based on the life of the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient, Arun Khetrapal.
Simar is the daughter of Akshay’s sister, Alka Bhatia. “Although Alka is a camera-shy person and has always stayed away from the limelight despite producing several movies with Akshay, her daughter Simar has always been interested in acting and is excited to get on a film set to live her dream,” a source familiar with the development told us.
Simar has taken an outsider’s approach to getting into films. While her maternal uncle, Akshay Kumar, could easily have given her a big, dreamy launch, Simar has secured her debut project on merit, setting an example for Bollywood star kids. She will play a brief role in Ikkis and has apparently already shot the majority of her portions in the film.
Described as a coming-of-age human drama that highlights father-son emotions alongside the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Ikkis marks Agastya Nanda’s theatrical debut following his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar's Netflix adaptation of The Archies last year. While Agastya steps into the shoes of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, veteran actor Dharmendra plays his father, Brigadier M.L. Khetrapal. The film went on floors in February and will release in cinemas on January 10, 2025.
