Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi has released and is topping the charts already. Starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Taha Shah Badussha, Farida Jalal and Fardeen Khan among others, the series revolves around the lives of courtesans. In one of the poignant scenes, a character says 'auraton ka khwab hi sabse bada dushman hota hai.' In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Aditi decoded the dialogue and said because of courtesans, women are now living their dreams freely.
Aditi, who plays the role of Bibbojaan in Heeramandi, said in the interview, "No khwab should be anybody's dushman. I'm a believer in dreaming and manifesting and making those dreams come true. And I think since we're talking about women, I think they have resilience and I think they do it. This is context. That dialogue is in a particular context. I think that holds a lot of value in that context. For all of us today, we're lucky because the world has changed and we are changing the world with our women, with our decisions.
She added, "I've always believed is that if the power actually lies within you and you are the sum total of the choices that you make and that is what truly empowers you, not only as women but as human being. That's the beauty of it. So, contextually yes; very poetic, beautiful and poignant. But today, I guess we're very lucky that we're in a different world. Because of those women, we can live our dreams."
Heeramandi is currently streaming on Netflix.
