Saif Ali Khan, who's currently filming for Siddharth Anand’s action thriller Jewel Thief, has tracked down yet another exciting project. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Saif is in advanced talks with Malayalam filmmaker Priyadarshan for the Hindi remake of his 2016 blockbuster, Oppam.
Saif has not yet signed the contract but has committed to the film and has even agreed to start it immediately if everything falls into place. The Vikram Vedha actor and the filmmaker had first discussed the Oppam remake just a month after the original was released, and they are finally collaborating on this project eight years later. The remake was once supposed to star Ajay Devgn in the lead, but that never materialized for reasons unknown.
Saif will step into the shoes of the legendary Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to play a blind man suspected of committing murder in this crime thriller. Priyadarshan is said to have made cultural changes in the story to appeal to Hindi-speaking audiences, primarily in the film's first half. He's currently giving the finishing touches to the revamped script and aims to kick off production in July, with a goal of finishing it by September 2024. Bobby Deol has apparently been approached for the antagonist’s role, but the actor has not yet given his consent.
The Priyadarshan project has found a place in Saif Ali Khan’s schedule after his Junglee Pictures movie “Click Shankar” was postponed by a few months. It's now very likely that the Balaji Mohan directorial will go on floors only after Saif completes the Oppam remake. Priyadarshan is also working on a horror comedy with Akshay Kumar, which he plans to begin shooting around November or December. Stay tuned for more updates!
