Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor's Mr. And Mrs. Mahi has released in theatres globally with a positive response. People are flocking to cinema halls to enjoy the perfect blend of cricket and love story. The film is directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Janhvi, who plays the role of Mahima, suffered two major injuries while undergoing cricket training.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, director Sharan shed light on Janhvi's injuries and how Mr. And Mrs. Mahi would have been shelved had the actress not gotten enough rest. He said, "Janhvi had two massive injuries while we were filming Mr. And Mrs. Mahi. It reached a point that if she had one more injury, the doctors had said this is it. She would have had to do surgery and the film would have been shelved. We were very careful about giving her enough time to do the rehab and take care of the shoulder. For me cricket is everything. So I didn't want to do a cricket film where I was only cringing about the quality of cricket."
He added, "We didn't want to do face replacement. We also couldn't afford to do it because it's an expensive technology. We weren't in favour of a body double. I wanted Janhvi Kapoor to look like the best cricketer she could possibly be. Our expectation of what we wanted to hit was very high. We had to be careful about how we achieved it and I had the most amazing cricket consultants and coaches and experts. We had Abhishek Nair who is now with the Kolkata Knight Riders team, and Vikrant, our coach. In fact, some of our strength and conditioning coaches are also with the KKR team."
Sharan concluded saying, "We had top-of-the-line people guiding us to be patient about how much we could push Janhvi in the future. For example, we could achieve her training in three months, but that three months would need a certain intensity. Due to the injuries, we couldn't train at that intensity."
Mr. And Mrs. Mahi is currently running in theatres.
