Following the box office success of the supernatural horror film Shaitaan, Ajay Devgn is further expanding his production slate. His production company, Ajay Devgn FFilms, which has now been rebranded as Devgn Films, currently has two films — Ajay’s highly anticipated Singham Again, and Kajol's horror film, Maa — in the post-production stage, slated for release in theatres this year. The roster is only growing with the addition of a new web series.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Ajay Devgn has now greenlighted a thriller series under his banner, set to be directed by Honey Trehan. The project is currently in the writing stage and will go on the floor by the end of this year. Plot and other details are currently under wraps, other than it being described as a mystery thriller. Casting and the OTT platform it's being made for are not disclosed yet.
Honey Trehan is a well-known casting director who transitioned to film directing with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, and Shweta Tripathi’s 2020 Netflix film, Raat Akeli Hai. He has also helmed Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Rampal starrer Punjab 95, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who fought against alleged fake encounters of Sikh youths by Punjab Police during militancy. However, the release of the RSVP production has been stuck due to censorship issues.
The Honey Trehan series marks Devgn Films’ fourth OTT project in five years. The company forayed into digital content production with Kajol’s Netflix film, Tribhanga, in 2020, and since then they have produced two more series, Pratik Gandhi’s The Great Indian Murder and Kajol’s The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhoka, both for Disney+Hotstar. Next up, the banner is developing a biopic on India's first Dalit cricketer, Palwankar Baloo, in partnership with Priti Sinha and Tigmanshu Dhulia.
Speaking of Ajay Devgn's upcoming lineup, he will next be seen alongside Tabu in Neeraj Pandey’s romantic thriller, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, scheduled for release on July 5, 2024. Following that, he will feature in Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid 2, Rohit Shetty's Singham Again (releasing on Diwali 2024), De De Pyaar De 2, and Son of Sardaar 2. He also has an extended cameo role in Abhishek Kapoor's next film, which launches his nephew Aaman Devgan into showbiz. Stay tuned to Peepingmoon for more updates!
