Yash Raj Films has consistently raised the bar with each spy movie. So it's not surprising that they're leaving no stone unturned to ensure War 2 — the upcoming installment in their highly successful and lucrative Spy Universe — is bigger and grander than its predecessors. Aditya Chopra is taking action in Indian cinema to another level with this Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer, promising audiences another adrenaline-fueled cinematic experience. 

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that War 2 will have multiple death-defying action sequences filmed on a scale never seen before in Indian cinema. One of the highlights includes a massively mounted speed boat chase sequence that Hrithik and Jr. NTR recently filmed over six days. This specific sequence took three months to design and was shot with the appropriate safety measures and training. South African action director Franz Spilhaus (Dominion, War, Tiger 3) conceptualized and choreographed this visually stunning sequence with the assistance of Marine Coordinator Jason Martin, best known for his water action sequences in films like Tomb Raider, One Piece, The Crown, and Resident Evil.

The speed boat chase sequence aside, the Ayan Mukherji directorial will also have a spine-tingling faceoff between Hrithik and Jr. NTR set inside an aircraft, also choreographed by Franz. Several more action-packed scenes, such as a chase sequence on trains, also feature in this movie to keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the film. The movie will also have an intricately choreographed sword-fighting scene set against the backdrop of a Shaolin temple in Japan, as well as a battle of epic proportions between the stars in a one-to-one combat scene at the end. 

Aditya Chopra has reportedly hired 11 stunt coordinators from all over the world to work on War 2. Among them are Franz Spilhaus, Spiro Razatos (Captain America: Civil War, Fast X, Jawan), Sunil Rodrigues (Pathaan, Fighter, Shershaah), and Anal Arasu (Heropanti, Mersal, Godfather), who are tasked with creating action sequences that elevate Indian cinema to the level of global action blockbusters—the action visuals in this massively budgeted espionage thriller promise to astound audiences.

War 2 takes off from the Siddharth Anand-directed 2019 original, following Hrithik's renegade Indian RAW agent Kabir Dhaliwal on a new mission. Squaring off against him this time is Telugu superstar Jr. NTR, who makes his spectacular debut in Hindi cinema with this film. The RRR star is also said to be playing a RAW agent in this film, with plans for a standalone film about his character in the future. The film went into production in November last year and is expected to be wrapped up by September 2024 and released in theatres during the Independence Day weekend in 2025. This movie will be Yash Raj Films' first true-blue pan India film and the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.
