Aditya Dhar’s directorial hiatus comes to an end as the filmmaker gears up to begin working on his second film, five years after his blockbuster directorial debut with Uri: The Surgical Strike. Peepingmoon.com exclusively revealed recently that Aditya is next making an ambitious action thriller and has assembled a massive ensemble cast — Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal — to headline it. Akshaye Khanna was later reported to have joined the film, and now another prominent name has been added to the cast.
Industry sources have revealed that Bala and Article 370 actress Yami Gautam will also play a major role in this espionage thriller, tentatively titled Dhurandhar. The actress reunites with her director husband Aditya again after Uri and will play a powerful, no-nonsense character in the narrative, largely led by male leads. The film will mark her first acting project after welcoming a baby boy in May this year.
Dhurandhar is billed as a fast-paced, mission-based thriller, with Ranveer portraying an intelligence officer on a mission in Pakistan. It is thought to be more in the style of Nikkhil Advani's critically acclaimed D-Day (2013), although the specifics of the plot are still unknown. Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist, while the character details of R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal have been kept under wraps. The pre-production is well underway and will get off the ground at the end of this month, with plans to film it extensively both in India and abroad.
Aditya has written the film and will produce it in partnership with Jio Studios. A massive budget has been allocated to mount it on an unprecedented scale, promising a never-seen-before action-packed, thrilling experience for audiences. The production is expected to be completed by November, with a release planned for the second half of 2025. Stay tuned to Peepingmoon for more updates!
