In June 2024, Peepingmoon.com exclusively revealed that Sidharth Malhotra is teaming up with Kabir Singh and Animal producer Murad Khetani on a rooted action drama directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua. South Indian sensation Sreeleela was roped in as the leading lady in what was supposed to mark Sidharth’s first project to go on floors following the box office debacle of his hijack thriller, Yodha. However, just two months later, the project has taken an unexpected turn. 

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Sidharth has abruptly left the film, leading to its complete shelving, only a month before production was set to commence in Uttarakhand. Sources indicate that Sidharth backed out of the movie due to his lack of confidence in the script and reported creative differences with the director. Furthermore, the makers could not find a studio to finance the project, possibly due to Sidharth’s diminishing box office appeal, which may have contributed to the project stalling indefinitely. Another source familiar with the situation reveals that Sidharth’s unreasonable demands and tantrums also played a role in the film's cancellation. 

Sidharth's career has faced significant challenges recently, with consecutive box office failures leaving producers and directors hesitant to invest in his films. The Shershaah actor has been attempting to put together a project for the past six months and has discussed numerous projects with various filmmakers, but none have progressed to the production stage. In addition, he seems to be confused about his next career move for a much-needed comeback, which is why he hasn’t been able to finalise and stick to a project despite initially committing to several. 

Buzz in the industry is now that Sidharth’s next film could be Dinesh Vijan's romantic comedy with Dasvi director Tushar Jalota. The yet-untitled film was originally set to begin production in late 2023 but was delayed due to budgetary constraints. The project appears to be back on track, with filming potentially starting in a few months. Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly in talks to play the female lead, though her casting has not yet been confirmed.
