The International Emmy Award-winning Indian web series Delhi Crime has an exciting cast addition. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Huma Qureshi has been signed on to play a pivotal role in the third season of Netflix India's crime drama series, widely acclaimed for its crisp storytelling and sensitive handling of heinous crimes.
Details about her character have been kept under wraps, but Huma’s addition to the cast of Delhi Crime Season 3 significantly heightens the anticipation surrounding the show. Huma is one of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood, and her casting in this high-profile series only strengthens her already impressive filmography, which includes acclaimed projects such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Dedh Ishqiya, Maharani, and Mithya. This collaboration also marks her third project with Netflix, following the 2019 dystopian series Leila and Vasan Bala’s neo-noir crime thriller Monica, O My Darling.
Shefali Shah returns as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi to investigate yet another heinous crime committed in and around Delhi. Joining her are regular cast members Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain, along with several new faces in key parts. Tanuj Chopra, who directed the previous season, will once again helm the new installment, while Sudhanshu Saria, who recently directed Janhvi Kapoor’s Ulajh, is attached as one of the key writers.
The show has been in pre-production for the last three months and officially goes on floors later this week in Delhi. While plot specifics remain tightly guarded, we hear the upcoming season will explore the theme of human trafficking. However, it remains unclear whether the story will be based on real-life events or entirely fictional. For context, the first season of Delhi Crime depicted the aftermath of the infamous 2012 Delhi gang rape, while the second season focused on the notorious Chaddi Baniyan Gang.
Delhi Crime Season 3 is expected to premiere on Netflix in mid-2025.
