EXCLUSIVE: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Wamiqa Gabbi and Jaya Bachchan team up for Vikas Bahl’s next

After an intense supernatural thriller and a futuristic sci-fi actioner, Vikas Bahl is opting for a lighter tone in his next. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that the Queen and Super 30 director has next set up a fun-filled family entertainer, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Wamiqa Gabbi, and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan in lead roles.

The yet-untitled film is set in Goa and revolves around an old house that is transformed into a public gully. Bhushan Kumar is producing it under his T-Series banner, marking his first association with Bahl, who most recently directed Ajay Devgn’s box office hit, Shaitan earlier this year. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi will be paired as romantic leads, offering audiences a fresh and youthful on-screen duo, while Jaya Bachchan is said to be playing Wamiqa's mother, adding depth and nuance to the family dynamics in this light-hearted drama.

Shooting timelines haven't been locked yet, but it's expected to go on floors towards the end of this year, depending on the availability of the leads. Both Siddhant and Wamiqa are juggling multiple projects, and they will head to Bahl’s film only after completing their current assignments. Siddhant, who made his breakthrough in Bollywood with Gully Boy and was recently seen in Ravi Udyawar’s Yudhra, is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's musical romance production, Tum Hi Ho. Additionally, he has Dharma Productions’ Dhadak 2 with Triptii Dimri, scheduled to release in theatres in February 2025.

Wamiqa Gabbi is also balancing a diverse range of roles. Best known for her stellar performances in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee, Disney+Hotstar’s Grahan, and Netflix’s Mai, Wamiqa recently completed filming a special cameo alongside Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan for the upcoming action entertainer Baby John and will soon resume shooting for Raj & DK’s fantasy period Netflix series, Rakht Brahmand. Also lined up ahead is a romantic comedy with Rajkummar Rao for Maddock Films, which is currently in post-production and aiming for an early 2025 release.

Jaya Bachchan, who also serves as a member of the parliament in the Rajya Sabha, was last seen in Karan Johar’s star-studded romcom, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. This Vikas Bahl film would mark her second acting role in the last five years, making her collaboration with Bahl all the more significant. Notably, this film also brings a special connection for Bahl, as it marks his first project with Jaya after previously working with her husband, Amitabh Bachchan, in films like Goodbye and Ganapath.
