Atlee's maiden Bollywood production, Baby John, is making all the waves ahead of its Christmas 2024 release. The makers showcased a special 5-minute footage of the film to exhibitors and distributors at Big Cine Expo on September 29 to a resounding positive response from everyone. The makers then released a character promo introducing Jackie Shroff as the menacing villain in the film, which further enhanced audience excitement. And now they're gearing up to drop another asset from the film next month.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Atlee and Varun Dhawan are set to unveil the teaser of Baby John on Diwali, November 1st. The teaser will also be attached with the prints of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty's highly anticipated Singham Again, which releases in cinemas the same day. After the teaser, the marketing campaign will progress with the release of songs, followed by the film’s trailer in early December.
Atlee and Ruben (who's also editing the film) have apparently locked around a 1 minute-and-30-second massy, action-packed teaser, and whoever has seen it is already going gaga over it. The film presents Varun as an action hero like never seen before and treats him like a superstar with massy entry sequences, amplified by a powerful background score by National Award-winner composer Thaman S. The promo is loaded with romance, action, music, and every other component needed to draw in single-screen audiences.
Baby John is the remake of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil hit, Theri, with significant screenplay changes to make it interesting and fresh for North-Indian audiences. Varun plays the character portrayed by Thalapathy Vijay in the original, while Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi step into the shoes of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson, respectively. Salman Khan and Sanya Malhotra also feature in cameo roles.
Produced by Priya Atlee (A For Apple Entertainment), Murad Khetani (Cine1 Studios), and Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), Baby John is a dramatic action entertainer that revolves around a former police officer who embarks on a mission to protect his daughter from his past enemies. Tamil filmmaker A. Kaleeswaran has directed the remake, written by Kalees and Jawan dialogue writer Sumit Arora. The film releases in theatres on December 25, 2024.
