FACT CHECK: Shah Rukh Khan to join Hrithik and Jr. NTR in a cameo role in War 2?

Yash Raj Films' upcoming Spy Universe film, War 2, is one of the most-awaited Hindi films coming out next year. The excitement surrounding this Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer espionage thriller intensified recently when reports surfaced suggesting Shah Rukh Khan would also feature in a cameo role in the film.

While Shah Rukh’s entry to the much-awaited sequel definitely adds to the excitement, this, unfortunately, is not really happening. Peepingmoon.com has learned from reliable sources that SRK is not making a cameo as his beloved spy character Pathaan in Ayan Mukherji’s action spectacle. Contrary to the ongoing media speculations, SRK’s appearance in War 2 is not part of the plan.

Although YRF head honcho Aditya Chopra does intend to unite Shah Rukh and Hrithik in the Spy Universe at some point, this collaboration will not take place in War 2. Hrithik’s Kabir had a cameo in the post-credit scene of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 because it sets the stage for War 2 (it continues the story from that film). But that's not the case with War 2, as the next film in the Spy Universe timeline is Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's Alpha. SRK's Pathaan is being planned for a return only after that.

Scheduled for release on the Independence Day weekend in 2025, War 2 is currently being filmed in Mumbai. Jr. NTR, who plays the antagonist to Hrithik, is shooting for a solo action sequence that emphasizes his character's formidable strength. Hrithik will soon join the Telugu superstar for a joint action sequence before meeting up again a few weeks later for the biggest climax showdown, planned over a 20-day schedule in November.

Alia and Sharvari's Alpha is also in production in Kashmir. They're presently shooting for an intricate chase sequence in this 10-day schedule. The film hits cinemas on the Christmas 2025 weekend, four months after War 2. YRF plans to follow up War 2 and Alpha with Pathaan 2, but that project is still in the writing phase, with no production timeline set yet.
