EXCLUSIVE: Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Rakt Bramhand is about two princes vying for throne; Details Inside

On July 20, Peepingmoon.com exclusively revealed that Raj & DK, the hotshot creators behind most-loved web shows like The Family Man and Farzi, are collaborating with Netflix for a period fantasy series, titled Rakt Bramhand. We also unveiled that Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Wamiqa Gabbi will headline this six-episode series, directed by Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve. We now have another update on this exciting project that promises a fantastic fusion of action and fantasy.

According to industry sources, Rakt Bramhand is based on the popular Marathi short story “Vidhushak”, written by legendary Marathi writer and Sahitya Akademy Award recipient G.A. Kulkarni. Director Rahi Anil Barve has long been captivated by this gripping tale set in a fantastical kingdom and always wanted to bring it to the big screen. He initially wanted to adapt it as a feature film, but over the years, he realized that the narrative's complexity warranted a long-format treatment. The project gained momentum when Raj & DK, along with their frequent collaborator Sita R. Menon, came on board.

Although it remains unclear how closely Rahi and Sita are adhering to Kulkarni’s original work, G.A. Kulkarni’s Vidhushak centers on two princes vying for the throne vacated by the death of an emperor. Both princes are allowed to choose one advisor, and one of them chooses Vidhushak, the clown/jester of the royal court. The entire story unfolds within the courtyard of Raktakshee Devi, a goddess with red eyes. Each prince is to describe a fiery trail for the other to overcome as proof of his perseverance, strength, and wisdom. These challenges continue until one prince is defeated, leaving only one to claim the throne.

Rakt Bramhand: The Bloody Kingdom promises a tale filled with deception, betrayal, love, sacrifice, and destiny. Billed as Netflix India’s first-ever mega-action fantasy series, it is set in a fictional world that is both unique and evocative of the mythical stories we grew up hearing. Aditya Roy Kapur and Ali Fazal are expected to portray the two rival princes, while character details for Wamiqa Gabbi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu remain undisclosed. The show is currently in production and is expected to be wrapped up by November-end, eyeing a premiere in late 2025.
