Parineeti Chopra is back and not going anywhere, as she promised during the release of Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila in April this year. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that the Ishaqzaade actress has just signed her first film since her wedding with the Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha in September 2023.
According to industry sources, Parineeti is set to return with a romantic comedy for Netflix India. The details of the film are currently shrouded in secrecy, but we hear it goes into production in two weeks, with primary shooting locations planned in Goa and Mumbai. Parineeti has begun her prep and is excited to get back to a film set after a 15-month hiatus; her last shoot was in August 2023, when she filmed a song with Akshay Kumar for Mission Raniganj.
Parineeti is collaborating with relatively new creative people for this project. Debutant Dhruv Tripathi is directing, while Joshua Shirsath produces it. Tripathi has previously directed the critically acclaimed short film, 10×10ft, which has been screened at around 20 film festivals across the globe and has won several awards, including Best Screenplay at the Moscow International Short Film Festival and Best Director at the Indian World Film Festival. Tripathi has also directed other short films like Intezaar and Fogg Fine. As for Shirsath, this film will mark his foray into production after previously working as a creative producer on films like Rashmi Rocket, Kacchey Limbu, and Dhak Dhak.
The romantic comedy marks Parineeti’s third collaboration with Netflix India, following Ribhu Dasgupta’s The Girl On The Train and Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila biopic, co-starring Diljit Dosanjh. Parineeti aims to launch a new chapter in her career with this project and is looking to return to work fully in the coming year. She is also discussing several big-ticket films and a web series, but nothing has concretely materialised on that front. Stay tuned to PeepingMoon.com for more updates!
