Peeping Moon EXCLUSIVE: Ajay Devgn and Jagan Shakti’s action adventure is based on THIS BOOK

Ajay Devgn and Luv Ranjan are teaming up once again after De De Pyaar De and its upcoming sequel, which is slated to release in theatres in May 2025. The Bollywood superstar, fresh off the box office success of Singham Again, is now collaborating with Ranjan on an action adventure, set to be directed by Mission Mangal fame Jagan Shakti.

Although the media has been reporting on this collaboration for months, Peepingmoon.com has now learned that their film is based on Aseem Arora and Richa Ganesh’s 2018 book, Ranger. Set against the backdrop of Bandhavgarh’s sprawling wilderness, the book follows Ranger Singh, a rookie forest officer, stepping into a world rife with corruption, neglect, and an alarming tiger crisis. Devgn will play the titular character, tasked with combating the brutal crimes of animal poaching.

Aseem Arora, one of the authors of this book and also a renowned screenplay writer with credits including Malang, Chhalaang, Freddy, and Vedaa, has adapted the book himself. The big screen adaptation, however, does not entirely adhere to the original material, as the makers are opting for an Indiana Jones-style narrative to make it more commercially appealing. While the makers are maintaining the essence of the original story, they are immersing Ranger Singh’s character in an exhilarating world of adventure, blending action with the emotional complexities of preserving nature and wildlife.

Ajay, Luv Ranjan, and Jagan Shakti intend to mount the film on an unprecedented scale, promising audiences a groundbreaking cinematic experience. Pre-production has been going on for months, with shooting commencing around January 2025. Ajay will kick off shooting for Ranger after completing Son of Sardar 2, which is expected to be wrapped up by this month-end. He also has Raid 2 and De De Pyaar De 2 scheduled for release next year.
