Kartik Aaryan's addiction to franchise movies has evidently escalated following the box office success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The young Bollywood star has already lined up Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2 and is urging producer Bhushan Kumar to make his Anurag Basu film as Aashiqui 3 rather than presenting it as a standalone romantic drama. Adding to this, Peepingmoon.com has now learned that Kartik is now gearing up for a sequel to his 2018 romcom, Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS).
Industry sources have revealed that Kartik and Luv Ranjan have initiated talks for SKTKS 2, with plans to start filming in the second half of 2025. They met last Tuesday at Luv Films' office, where Ranjan pitched the story idea, which Kartik loved and quickly approved, setting the project into motion. Ranjan is currently writing the screenplay, with all other logistical aspects set to be locked once the final draft is ready. It’s yet unknown which narrative direction the sequel will take—whether it's a continuation of the first part or a brand-new story with the same characters, as Ranjan did with the Pyaar Ka Punchnana franchise—the director intends to provide audiences with an equally entertaining film that is packed with chartbuster songs, witty dialogues, and varied emotions of love and friendship.
Kartik is returning to a Luv Ranjan romcom after seven years, and the excitement is already building for their reunion. Together, the actor-director duo has delivered some of the most entertaining romantic comedies, such as the Pyaar Ka Punchnana movie series, Akaash Vaani, and Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety. This sequel will be their fifth collaboration, continuing the tradition of Kartik starring in every Luv Ranjan film, except for Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar, where he made a cameo appearance.
Kartik will commence shooting for SKTKS 2 after completing Mudassar Aziz's Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2, and Anurag Basu’s romantic film, which is likely to be titled Aashiqui 3 once the ongoing rights issues with Mukesh Bhatt are resolved. Kartik is also set to team up with his Satyaprem Ki Katha director, Sameer Vidwans, for another romance saga under the banners of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Namah Pictures. He's also discussing projects with Junglee Pictures, but nothing has concretely materialized on that front yet. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 is also in the works, but it's expected to take off only sometime in 2026.
