We exclusively revealed recently that Netflix India is making a sequel to the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Radhika Apte whodunit ‘Raat Akeli Hai’. Now the streaming giant is expanding another of its hit films into a franchise.
PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Netflix India has greenlighted a sequel to Maddock Films’ 2023 heist hijack thriller, ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’. Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal will return to headline the second part. Yami will once again play Neha Grover, the flight attendant caught in a web of deception, while Sunny will reprise Ankit Sethi, the owner of a diamond insurance company. The sequel will pick up where the first film left off, with Ankit threatening Neha and vowing to exact revenge.
Ajay Singh, who directed the 2023 original, will helm this film too, while Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik will produce it. Supporting cast members Sharad Kelkar and Indraneil Sengupta are also expected to return, reprising their roles as RAW officer Parvez Shaikh and Sudhanshu Roy, respectively. The follow-up promises to build on the gripping narrative of the original with a compelling script designed to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The shooting timelines haven’t been locked yet, but it’s expected to get off the ground in the first half of 2025.
Yami will reportedly start shooting for ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2’ after finishing Junglee Pictures’ film based on the 1985 Shah Bano Case. That project goes on floors in March, and only after finishing it will she head to the Netflix film. The Maddock Films production marks Yami’s second project after she gave birth to a baby in May 2024. She was last seen in her husband Aditya Dhar’s production ‘Article 370’ in 2024 and has a romantic comedy with Pratik Gandhi lined up ahead.
Sunny Kaushal, meanwhile, will next be seen opposite Wamiqa Gabbi in Maddock Films' ‘Shiddat 2’. He also has a coming-of-age drama, ‘Letters to Mr. Khanna’, alongside Neetu Singh and Shraddha Srinath in the pipeline, but that film is struggling to secure release despite being ready for two years now.
