India’s first superstar, Rajesh Khanna, left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, and now his granddaughter is set to carry forward his illustrious legacy. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s granddaughter, Naomika Saran, is preparing for her Bollywood debut this year.
Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films will introduce Naomika to the silver screen in a romantic comedy opposite Agastya Nanda, the grandson of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. While the details of the project are tightly guarded, industry insiders believe it will be a quintessential Maddock-style commercial love story, infused with vibrant music, dance sequences, and compelling family drama. The film will be directed by renowned Punjabi filmmaker Jagdeep Sidhu, celebrated for his blockbuster hits like Qismat, Qismat 2, Shadaa, and Jatt & Juliet 3. This project will mark Sidhu’s directorial debut in Hindi cinema, following his work as a dialogue writer on acclaimed biopics such as Saand Ki Aankh and Srikanth.
Naomika, a stunning 21-year-old young girl, recently captured public attention for her striking resemblance to her grandmother Dimple Kapadia at the screening of her uncle Akshay Kumar’s aerial actioner Sky Force. She is the daughter of Khanna’s younger daughter Rinke Khanna and businessman Sameer Saran. Having been born and brought up in a film family, she has always aspired to pursue a career in acting. And now, under the guidance of Dinesh Vijan, she is finally set to fulfill her dream of joining the film industry and continuing her family’s cinematic legacy.
This yet-untitled project holds immense significance as it brings together the grandchildren of two of Indian cinema’s greatest icons—Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna—on screen, half a century after the legendary actors co-starred in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s cult classics, Anand (1971) and Namak Haraam (1973). While Naomika is making her debut with this film, Agastya Nanda has already stepped into the industry with Netflix India’s The Archies and is currently filming Sriram Raghavan’s Arun Kheterpal biopic, Ikkis, also produced by Maddock Films.
Naomika’s launch vehicle is the latest addition to Maddock Films’ ambitious upcoming slate. The production house has over a dozen films at various stages of production, in addition to eight recently announced films under its blockbuster horror-comedy universe.
